How can you tell if a job uses Ashby?
Ashby-hosted job boards live at jobs.ashbyhq.com/company-name. When a company builds its own careers page on Ashby, job links often carry an ashby_jid= parameter, like yourcompany.com/careers?ashby_jid=123. The form itself is usually a clean page with separate Overview and Application tabs. Both are signs you are on Ashby.
If the job page shows the role description on one tab and the form on another, and the address or embedded frame mentions ashbyhq.com, you are on Ashby.
What does an Ashby application look like?
An Ashby application is a single form: name, email, resume upload, often a LinkedIn URL, then the employer’s own questions. Employers decide which questions are required and can attach auto-reject rules to some answers. Submit only once you have read every question, because answers can matter more than the resume.
Before you submit, Ashby’s spam protection may check that a real person is filling in the form. Employers choose how strict this is. Ashby’s own docs note that at the strictest setting “some candidates experience problems submitting their applications”.
How does Ashby’s AI-assisted application review work?
Ashby’s AI-assisted application review is available on all Ashby plans. The employer writes criteria, such as years in a role or a specific tool, and the AI evaluates each applicant against them. Ashby says qualified people on the hiring team still make the advance or reject decision, not the AI.
Because each criterion is checked against what you wrote, vague bullets are risky. If the role needs “3+ years of B2B SaaS sales”, a reader (human or AI) should be able to find that fact stated plainly in your resume, with dates that add up.
- Write the facts out: “4 years managing B2B SaaS accounts in mid-market”.
- Name the tools the posting names, where you have used them.
- Keep job titles and dates unambiguous so tenure is computed correctly.
On the Enterprise plan, employers can also set global auto-reject rules that automatically archive candidates based on their answers to application questions.
What are Ashby application limits?
Ashby lets employers cap how many times one candidate can apply to their jobs within a set number of days, and block rejected candidates from reapplying to the same role for a period. If you hit a limit, you see a message the employer wrote. These limits do not apply to applications sent through Indeed.
The practical lesson: apply to the one or two roles that fit you best at a company, not to every opening. Mass applying can lock you out of the role you actually wanted.
Why was my Ashby application flagged as spam?
Ashby has two separate checks. Spam protection tries to tell real people from bots when you submit, and strict settings can block real candidates. Fraud detection, which employers turn on per job, looks at device, IP, email and phone signals. A recruiter makes the final call on whether an applicant is fraudulent.
- Apply from a normal browser, not through a VPN or an automated tool.
- Use an email and phone number you really use, matching your resume.
- If the form keeps refusing to submit, try another browser or network, then email the company’s recruiting contact rather than resubmitting many times.
