How can you tell if a job uses Lever?
Lever job sites live at jobs.lever.co/company-name, and each posting has its own page with an “Apply for this job” button that opens the form at the same address plus /apply. Companies that embed Lever on their own site often leave lever-source or lever-origin parameters in the link.
Lever is part of Employ, the company that also owns Jobvite and JazzHR. The three systems are separate products, so a Lever form looks and behaves differently from a Jobvite one.
What does a Lever application look like?
A Lever form is one page. At the top you attach your resume and Lever shows “Analyzing resume” while it auto-reads it. Below are your name, email, phone, location, current company and links such as LinkedIn and GitHub, then any employer questions, an optional voluntary US equal opportunity section, and often an Additional information box.
On Lever’s own demo form, the upload accepts files up to 100MB and shows “Couldn’t auto-read resume” when parsing fails. If you see that message, your file was still attached. You just need to type the fields yourself.
Employer questions vary. A common pattern is a short eligibility block, for example “Are you eligible to work in the United States?” and “Are you 18 or over?”, marked as required.
The Additional information box, when present, is your cover note. Two or three sentences on why this role and your single strongest proof point are plenty.
How does Lever screen your resume?
Lever turns your application into a candidate profile that recruiters review, tag and search. Treat it as a system where a person reads your resume, helped by search. The employer’s required questions are the part most likely to filter you out, so answer them carefully and consistently with your resume.
Because recruiters search profiles by keyword later, using the posting’s own terms for skills and tools (where they are true for you) helps you show up when they look for a past applicant. Stuffing keywords does not help a human reader, and Lever forms are short enough that a recruiter usually sees your resume directly.
Lever does not publish a public list of automatic rejection rules for candidates. Assume the employer may set rules on required answers, and that everything else is read by a person.
How do I check my Lever application status?
Lever does not offer job seekers a public status portal. Your confirmation email comes from the employer, and updates come from them too. If you have not heard back, reply to the confirmation email or contact the recruiter named on the posting, giving the role name and the date you applied.
A quiet inbox usually means your application is still waiting for review, not that it was rejected by software. Many companies send rejection emails in batches when a role closes.
What resume format works best on Lever?
Use a text-based PDF or .docx with one column, standard headings and plain bullet points. That gives Lever’s auto-read the best chance, and if it still fails, fill the fields by hand. Put the strongest match to the role in your top three bullets, because a recruiter reads the top first.
- Keep your current title and company in plain text near the top. The form asks for current company, and recruiters scan for it.
- Add your LinkedIn URL in the Links section and make sure the dates match your resume.
- Save the file with your name, like jane-doe-resume.pdf. Recruiters download and forward files.
