How Workable screens your resume (and how to get through)

Workable is a hiring system used by many small and mid-size companies. It reads your resume to fill the application form, lets employers add Yes or No questions that silently disqualify, and on some jobs uses an AI agent that scores applicants out of 100. There is no candidate status portal.

How to tell you’re on Workable

  • URL is apply.workable.com/<company>/…
  • Form with optional “Apply with LinkedIn / Indeed”

How it screens you

  • Parses your resume into a profile; recruiters search by keyword and can auto-disqualify on screening questions.
  • Offers AI candidate scoring against the job description on some plans.

What gets you through

  • Fill the form fields even if your resume has them: parsed fields are what recruiters filter on.
  • Mirror the posting’s skill names exactly.

How can you tell if a job uses Workable?

Workable job pages live at apply.workable.com/company-name. The form usually offers to start from your resume, and sometimes from LinkedIn or Indeed. The confirmation email after you apply comes through Workable and often contains a link to withdraw, so keep that email.

Workable accepts resumes up to 5MB in .pdf, .doc, .docx, .rtf, .html or .odt format.

How does Workable screen applicants?

Workable parses your resume to fill the form, then employers screen with questions and review. Yes or No questions can be set to disqualify, and a disqualified applicant still gets a normal confirmation email and is not told. On jobs using the Workable AI agent, applicants get a score out of 100 against the employer’s criteria.

Must-have criteria weigh more heavily in that AI score, and the agent can automatically disqualify candidates who do not meet criteria the employer marked “Disqualify if not met”. Both features are set up per job by the employer.

Workable’s jobseeker help says it “reads through” your resume to fill the form and advises against resumes that are only an image. Check every filled field, because recruiters filter on them.

How do I check my Workable application status or withdraw?

Workable has no candidate status page. Its jobseeker help says to contact the hiring company directly for status. To withdraw, use the option at the bottom of your confirmation email. You cannot withdraw once your application has been reviewed or moved forward, except for jobs in the EEA.

Common Workable problems and fixes
